TUESDAY, 8 AUGUST 2023, KUALA LUMPUR – MATRADE exceeds target for international buyers registered for the flagship International Sourcing Programme (INSP) at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023.

INSP MIHAS comprises pre-arranged one-to-one business meetings, both physical and virtual, which connects international buyers with Malaysian suppliers of Halal products and services. The physical INSP will be held on 11 September at Menara MATRADE, Kuala Lumpur, while the virtual INSP is held online from 20 March until 30 November. Registration and participation is free-of-charge.

INSP MIHAS 2023 will host more than 470 buyers from 40 countries including from the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, the Americas and Africa region.

“The higher number of international buyers participating in INSP this year proves that MIHAS is the trusted platform for sourcing of high-quality halal products and services. This opens up new export opportunities for Malaysian companies, particularly small and medium businesses (SMEs), to conveniently link with serious foreign buyers,” said the CEO of MATRADE, YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.

“Last year’s INSP MIHAS connected 510 Malaysian companies with 389 international buyers, generating deals worth RM745.20 million for Malaysian exporters, and we expect an equally successful programme this year. We encourage Malaysian businesses not to miss this lucrative opportunity to expand their exports into new markets by meeting foreign buyers brought here to your doorstep,” added YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.

YBhg. Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz added that for INSP MIHAS 2023, Malaysian companies can look forward to connect with 11 premium buyers from Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Qatar, Turkiye, United Kingdom, France and Australia. These buyers represent some of the largest conglomerates, retailers and supermarkets in these countries.

About Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023

Since its inception in 2004, MIHAS has become an event for local and foreign businesses to thrive in the halal trade and to contribute significantly to the global halal economy. In 2022, MIHAS attracted over 30,000 trade visitors, and generated sales worth over RM2.3 billion (USD 513 million).

MIHAS is a robust marketplace for both international and local players to seize opportunities beyond halal food including halal pharmaceutical, medical devices, finance, modest fashion, personal care and cosmetics, and even Muslim-friendly tourism.

The 19th MIHAS will place special emphasis on the agenda of helping local and international players look to innovation and sustainable initiatives to spearhead steady growth for the halal economy.

MIHAS is not limited to the ASEAN region alone but is also supported internationally by the enthusiastic participation of International Pavilions from countries across the globe, from trade commissions to various Government agencies, from industry players to market leaders.
