MIHAS 2025 ON TRACK TO HIT RM4.5 BILLION TARGET
MIHAS’s International Edition to Expand to Europe in 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 September 2025 – The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2025 entered its third day on a high note as YAB Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim graced the Official Opening Ceremony today at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), MIHAS 2025 runs from 17–20 September at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur. Themed “Pinnacle of Halal Excellence”, the 21st edition continues to reaffirm Malaysia’s position as a global leader in the Halal economy.
The Opening Ceremony, held alongside the Opening of the Global Halal Summit, followed two days of strong momentum at MIHAS 2025. Off on a strong start, preliminary results from its flagship International Sourcing Programme (INSP) looks set to help MIHAS achieve its RM4.5 billion sales targets.
INSP MIHAS 2025, a central pillar of this event, saw more than physical 4,000 business meetings arranged between 600 Malaysian sellers and 300 international buyers, including top tier retailers and hypermarkets with combined annual revenues exceeding RM1.5 trillion. The programme, which also has a virtual component running until 5 November 2025, has already delivered significant sales and is expected to surpass last year’s RM2.52 billion achievement, strengthening Malaysia’s trade ties across ASEAN, the GCC, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
On the second day, the focus was on Knowledge Hub, a platform comprising 23 strategically curated sessions with 76 global industry experts, and two webinars on supply chain traceability and e-Commerce equipping businesses with digital solutions for global market expansion. Comprised of prelude sessions by strategic partners, webinars by industry experts and a panel session, Knowledge Hub provides round-the-clock market intelligence, regulatory briefings, actionable analytics and direct access to premium buyers.
Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said: “Malaysia is reframing halal as a driver of responsible innovation to reinforce sustainable and inclusive economic growth. By expanding halal trade, Malaysia is not only capturing value from a fast-growing global sector, but also hedging against volatility in traditional commodities, while reinforcing our role as a bridge between the Muslim world and global markets. As such, our RM62-billion halal industry – supported by events like MIHAS – is a forward-looking economic strategy that strengthens our resilience, enhances our soft power and secures new pathways to prosperity for Malaysians.”
MATRADE’s Chairman YB Dato’ Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican added that MIHAS continues to serve as a catalyst for Malaysia’s Halal leadership: “The strong performance of the INSP this year underscores the global demand for Malaysia’s Halal offerings. Through MIHAS and our digital platforms, we are enabling Malaysian exporters to connect with high value global buyers and unlock new opportunities.”
Looking ahead, MIHAS is set to expand its global reach with MIHAS@Shanghai taking place from 5 to 11 November 2025 in conjunction with the China International Import Expo. Beyond that, plans are underway to bring the MIHAS brand to Europe in 2026. As one of the world’s most promising and strategically important halal market, this expansion will provide Malaysian exporters with direct access to high-value opportunities across multiple sectors and a rapidly growing halal consumer base.
MIHAS 2025 features 14 dedicated industry clusters covering Halal food, pharmaceuticals, Islamic finance, modest fashion, green technology, e-commerce, and Muslim-friendly tourism, alongside knowledge-sharing platforms such as the Global Halal Summit, Halal Sector Forum, and the Halal Certification Body Convention. This year’s edition will see the participation of 45,000 visitors, 2,400 booths, as well as exhibitors and buyers from 80 countries.
Since its inception in 2004, MIHAS has generated close to RM30 billion in export sales and attracted over half a million business visitors worldwide. With INSP 2025’s robust performance and the upcoming Europe edition, MIHAS continues to chart new frontiers in positioning Malaysia at the heart of the global Halal economy.

This international collaboration underscores MIHAS’s role as a global nexus for the Halal industry, facilitating cross-border trade, knowledge exchange, and fostering partnerships that span continents.
As MIHAS continues to evolve, it remains committed to its mission of galvanising the global Halal industry, promoting innovation, and supporting sustainable growth. Through its comprehensive platform, MIHAS not only showcases the latest trends and innovations in the Halal sector but also catalyses forging business connections and dialogue that drive the industry forward.
