KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) has postponed the 17th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2020 to September 1-4 this year.
In a statement today, Matrade said the decision was made following the feedback gathered by the agency and the organiser from exhibitors who had expressed their wish for the iconic trade fair to be rescheduled.
Initially, the MIHAS 2020 was scheduled to be held on April 1-4 this year.
Matrade said the change of date also took into account the trends of trade fairs around the world that had opted to reschedule their events.
The move was also a measure to safeguard the health and safety of its Halal trade fair as well as participants and exhibitors in view of Covid-19 global outbreak, it added.
The Ministry of Health (MoH), National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and various other ministries and agencies, said the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia remains under control.
The health situation is being managed by MoH, NDMA and various ministries and agencies under a committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Matrade said it would continue to work closely with all exhibitors and visitors to ensure the success of MIHAS 2020.
